Research emphasis: Biology of ixodid ticks and tick-borne pathogens. This program is centered on understanding the mechanisms responsible for transmission and pathogenesis of tick-borne members of the bacterial order Rickettsiales, especially the family Anaplasmataceae. Members of this family include important pathogens of livestock, companion animals and human beings. Current projects involve Ehrlichia chaffeensis, E. canis and Anaplasma marginale. Other interests include human and veterinary public health issues in Thailand.

Teaching: Parasitology
