Dr. Rankin
was born in San Francisco, CA, and grew up in the San Francisco Bay Area. After one year as a civil engineering major in undergraduate school at the University of California, Davis, Dr. Rankin decided to pursue veterinary medicine and completed her Doctor of Veterinary Medicine degree at UC Davis in 2004. Dr. Rankin could not escape her interest in engineering, and she married a mechanical engineer, Jon Rankin, in 2003. She and her husband moved to Missouri where she completed a small animal medicine and surgery internship in 2005 at the University of Missouri-Columbia. She is currently completing a combined Master of Science degree and residency program in oncology at the University. Her research interests include evaluation of survivin, an inhibitor of apoptosis, and its relationship to urinary bladder tumors.
