Begins Search for
New College of Veterinary Medicine Dean
University of Missouri Provost Brian Foster
recently announced the names of those who will serve on the
search committee for the dean of the MU College of Veterinary
Medicine.
The committee will solicit nominations, review qualifications
of applicants, and recommend a finalist to the provost. The
process could take about a year to complete. The new dean
will succeed Dr. Joe Kornegay who accepted an appointment
at the University of North Carolina-Chapel Hill. Dr. Cecil
Moore, director of the MU Veterinary Medical Teaching Hospital,
is serving as interim dean.
Dr. John Dodam, associate dean for academic affairs at the
MU College of Veterinary Medicine, will co-chair the search
committee with Michael O’Brien dean of the MU College
of Arts and Science.
Serving on the search committee will be:
Alex Bermudez, director of the Veterinary Medical Diagnostic
Laboratory and associate professor in the Department of Veterinary
Pathobiology.
Cynthia Besch-Williford, associate professor
in Department of Veterinary Pathobiology.
Shane Brookshire, MU DVM ’97, Missouri
state veterinarian, and director of the Division of Animal
Health, Missouri Department of Agriculture.
Rodney Geisert, director of the MU Division
of Animal Sciences and professor, College of Agriculture,
Food and Natural Resources.
Christina Gray, president-elect of the
Student Chapter of the American Veterinary Medical Association
and MU Class of 2009.
Eileen Hasser, professor in the Department
of Biomedical Sciences.
James Howard of Howard Veterinary Hospital
Inc., member of Missouri Veterinary Medical Association, and
MU DVM ’83.
Kim Dannett Johnson, resident veterinarian
in the College of Veterinary Medicine.
Harold Laughlin, chair and professor of
the Department of Biomedical Sciences.
Mark McIntosh, chair and professor in the
Department of Molecular Microbiology and Immunology, MU School
of Medicine.
Richard Meadows, clinical associate professor,
MU Department of Veterinary Medicine and Surgery.
Vicki Miller, manager of business and fiscal
operations, College of Veterinary Medicine.
Carol Reinero, assistant professor in the
Department of Veterinary Medicine and Surgery.
George Stewart, chair and professor, Department
of Veterinary Pathobiology.
