Veterinarians
are on the front lines of many nationally important
safety initiatives.
They continue to serve as the nation's
primary inspector of food, allowing the population to
take for granted that its meals are safe. Moreover,
veterinarians are stepping into new roles such as homeland
security where terrorist threats to the public's water
or food supply must be detected early.
To encourage students considering the MPH program, an endowment of $2 million is sought. This would provide $100,000 per year in student scholarships/awards, attracting some of the best veterinary medical students to this area.
