Doctor of International Livestock, Health and Production (DLHP) Establishment
In
many developing countries, the best way to prevent massive
starvation is to train local veterinary professionals
in the latest methods of herd health and production
efficiency. With such expertise, farm animal populations
can grow and become more productive, thus better feeding
the population.
The College of Veterinary Medicine is proposing a new professional degree in collaboration with the MU department of animal science that would train foreign nationals with expertise in livestock health for service in developing countries.
The proposed program has been discussed by animal science faculty and they have agreed to participate.
Funding is needed to advertise the program overseas, pay for travel and living expenses, and reimburse faculty and classroom costs.
