The
MU Veterinary Medical Teaching Hospital is one of the
nation's newest and largest facilities of its kind.
It has attracted the best clinicians and scientists
in areas such as oncology, ophthalmology, cardiology,
orthopedics, dentistry, food animal medicine, equine
lameness research, and internal medicine. The last ten
years have also seen a dramatic increase in the needs
and expectations of the animal owning public who want
the same sophisticated medical care for their animals
as they expect for themselves.
Approximately 10,000 square feet
needs to be added for additional offices and laboratories.
This space would be built onto the roofs of the existing
first and second floors, something planned for in the
original design of the building. A naming opportunity
exists for this $3,000,000 expansion.
Additionally, there is a pressing
need to expand current laboratory space, the hospital's
pharmacy, and Small Animal Clinic. Critical research,
office and seminar room space is needed to retain and
recruit top-quality faculty.
