The
sickest of animals often need treatments that take days
or weeks to fully administer. During this time, owners
of modest means face the challenge of driving long distances
or staying in a hotel during this time. Often, the decision
to pursue treatment rests upon these financial considerations.
Barkley House would be a homelike structure near the teaching hospital where owners could stay at no or reduced costs. This facility will allow owners to be near their animals during treatment—a known positive factor influencing patient outcomes.
Barkley House has attracted a large and grassroots following in Missouri. Additional funding will help make this concept, the first in veterinary medicine, a reality that will influence the construction of similar facilities nationwide.
A naming opportunity exists for a person or corporation who will provide significant funding for this project.
